The Smooth 5.45 folding treadmill is one of the newer treadmills in the Smooth range and replaces the 5.25 model which had been an all time best seller for years.
“Replace a best seller, why would they want to do that?” I hear you ask…
Well apparently Smooth have just taken the old 5.25 improved it and kept it at the same price. Better machine, same price…that’s got to be good.

The Smooth treadmill also boasts of easy folding with gas shock-assist lift, superior stability due to its solid frame and Whisper Weave technology which allows the treadmill to live up to it’s ‘Smooth’ name. But with all these impressive sounding features can the Smooth 5.45 really live up to the ‘best seller’ tag of it’s predecessor the Smooth 5.25?
Smooth Quality Without The Price Tag
Smooth are known for their solid, quiet machines and despite being the cheapest of the Smooth treadmills, this one is no exception. Generally with treadmills you get what you pay for and most treadmills priced $1000 or less I don’t recommend or at most, just for walking.
However with the 2.5HP motor the 210 lbs steel frame and sturdy design this treadmill has the features of many high end expensive machines at half the price. Here is what one Amazon reviewer had to say about the Smooth 5.45 treadmill…
“It’s comfortable and stable, and a pleasure to use. My significant other and I put around 30 miles per week on it, so we’re not heavy users like runners in training. We both use the power incline and vary the speed a lot.”
The large 20″ x 55″ running surface is an improvement in length over the 5.25 machine and the 250 lbs maximum weight capacity is enough to suit even the larger users.
The 10mph range and 0-15 level incline is very good for a treadmill of this price and the LCD display panel with it’s 6 inbuilt programs should be sufficient even for the demanding user.
“The treadmill is very responsive to inputs for changes in speed and angle of inclination. I use maximum incline and speeds up to 7mph. The noise is not obtrusive. If I’m watching television, I have to increase the volume about twice normal; for me that’s acceptable. I have had no problems at all with this product and highly recommend it.”
The fact that it is a folding treadmill makes this treadmill even more impressive and great for those small homes or work spaces and the improved foldability with the gas assisted lift just shows that Smooth are continually trying to improve. 
The other great thing about this treadmill is the warranty…lifetime on frame and motor, 3-years all parts and 1 year of in-home service.
A good treadmill deserves a good warranty and that is was Smooth Fitness deliver. There is nothing worse than buying a treadmill and it breaking down after 6 months (not that the Smooth 5.45 is likely too) and not being covered by warranty.
You can generally tell how good a machine is by its warranty and you won’t find better on a treadmill in this price bracket.
The only downside i can see to this treadmill is that it lack the bells and whistles of the more expensive models including more inbuilt programs, a luminescent LCD display, higher max speed, fan etc. However when paying only around $1000 you can’t expect everything.
Great Value For Money
The Smooth 5.45 treadmill really is a great machine at a great price. Many companies try and add too many bells and whistle to a treadmill before they get the basics like a powerful motor, large running surface and design, right.
Smooth have made no such mistake!
