Nordic Track Viewpoint 3000 Treadmill Review

The Nordic Track ViewPoint 3000 boasts both the updated Ifit system, which uses ifit memory cards, as well as a 7″ LCD TV. These are features that have many customers happy with the machine despite its many faults.

As yet an other brand made by Icon fitness, Nordic Track suffers from some of the stigma and materials problems shared by all the machines icon makes.

The customer reviews for the ViewPoint 3000 can be very misleading since most customers either had no problems and rated it very highly or had many problems and rated it very poorly. Make and material concerns are very real but some of the horror stories about this machine are exaggerations and products of user error.

It is important to note all aspects of a machine when considering a purchase, and this particular tredmill proves that rule.

The New Ifit system include uses ifit card which cost 30 dollars a piece and are simply memory card loaded with preplanned workouts paired with music and audio voice, there are 25 workouts per card.

The 7″ can be used with cable and most any other device since it has multiple inputs to accomodate DVD players, MP3 Players and a coaxial cable. Good picture and sound are to be expected from a tv treadmill now and Nordic Track delivers just that.

Quality Depends On Who You Ask

I will preface this section of the review by saying that the Nordic Track ViewPoint 3000 is full of quality features including: a decent LCD, speakers, the Ifit systerm, good programs, and overall a smooth and comfortable experience for walking and jogging. Following is what one customer had to say about the machine,

“I have had this treadmill for a few months and it is great- no problems at all. The television and speakers are great. I DVR my favorite shows or just watch the news and before you know it, the workout is over. The I-fit workouts really get you moving and burns many calories. I will definitely by a NordicTrack customer for life!”

I like the fact that in addition to the ifit system, which costs more money, this machine offers well developed and thought out programs that are enjoyable and help the user achieve fitness goals. I also genuinely feel that the integrated LCD TV console is one of the better of the lower priced TV treadmills. I also enjoy the fact that this machine shows that Icon Fitness gets it and is starting to integrate new technology into its equipment, something that many manufacturers struggle with.

Unfortunately the Nordic Track ViewPoint 3000 also has a great number of draw backs. The 2.5 hp motor and short track are not enough to support this machine as a running treadmill. Customers note it, and it is observable to most who see the machine, expense has been spared when it comes to materials. The plastic base covers are one of the most common things to go wrong on this machine and often crack if too much tension is used while adjusting the deck.

Also note the 28% impact reduction versus road conditions Nordic track boasts is subpar and most other machines offer between 35% and 45% impact reduction.

In addition to the above problems, the warranty which only cover parts, something you are likely to have to deal with on this machine, for 1 year. The ultimate problem is that at about $1200 dollars a low price, a tv, and quality construction are too much to ask for. Nordic Track decided a low price and a TV were good enough.

Good Console, Mediocre Machine

A value priced machine is only a value if it can deliver quality at a below expected cost. Although the Nordic Track ViewPoint 3000 has many good features it is ultimately a flawed machine.

For $1200 having and LCD TV is incredible, unfortunately Nordic Track does not have a good customer service or quality track record to sell the value of this machine. It may be enjoyable for those who don’t have problem with the machine, but it is very unpleasant for those who do.
