It has long been a commonly held belief that you can not get a quality treadmill for under $1000. In recent years many manufacturers have low cost manufacturers have added more quality to their machines and many quality manufacturers have introduced lower cost models which make home gym equipment affordable to the masses.
The Image advanced 1400 is one of those under $1000 machines which is aimed at quality but is more than anything an under $1,000 machine which has been improved upon by added quality features.

A huge plus to this machine is its ifit compatibility which expands the machines number of programs above and beyond those which are built into the machine.
As mention with the Health Rider machines, Ifit.com offers professional designed workouts for weight lose, calorie burn, toning, and maintaining overall fitness. Either with a connected internet connection or the available CD’s the user can access a large variety of workouts that are paired with motivational music and coaching.
Also of note, the advanced 1400 also has a fan and a decent cushioning system for walking and jogging, not running though.
Quality Features Added To A Sub Par Machine
With shock absorption which is specifically designed to meet jogging and walking needs the machine has quality cushioning for most types of use short of running and sprinting. The machine is fairly stable for its light weight but its weight also helps purpose this machine specifically as a walking and jogging treadmill.

Dual fans are integrated to help provide comfort during long workouts and the built in speaker works well to put the ifit system to work for you through motivational audio. Image is also proud of the smooth acting power incline, a feature on almost all quality treadmills, designed to allow the user to transition gradually and continue to use the machine as the incline is being set.
The bad, in one word…. warranty.
The warranty can tell you a lot about a machine. The shorter a warranty, the less time you can expect to have an expense free machine sitting in your living room.
Parts from Image are known to be expensive and because of they short warranty you will have to be prepared for the possibility of repairing the machine out of pocket after your first 90 days of use.
It is also considered a major disadvantage for a machine to only offer a 10% incline, most machines now are offering up to 15%. In the future and update to horse power could increase available incline and improve this machine but i don’t believe an update is on schedule.
Feature Rich But Warranty Lacking
Having a lasting machine is very important to me. Whenever I see a machine with such a short warranty I cringe, add to that that many owners complain about the cost of replacement parts and the evidence piles up against this machine. The good news is that the machine is actually quite reliable and does last despite not being covered by an adequate warranty.
If you are looking for programs and personal training help from a machine which can be had for under $700 then the Image 1400 Advanced may be the machine for you. It requires over coming the stigma of a poor warranty, but there have been several happy customers in the past.
