Horizon LS 780T Treadmill Review

Horizon is known as the exercise equipment manufacture who provides the best warranties on bargain priced machines. As far as having lifetime motor and frame warranty, that makes this machine a standard at its piece range, warranty if about more than the frame and motor and a quality treadmill is a lot more than warranty.

The best machines in the industry always have something fairly unique that really sets them apart from the crowd as well as all the solid and enjoyable performance you expect from a quality machine. Even though the Horizon LS780T treadmill performs fairly well nothing really sets it apart from the the crowd, it is very average.

The motor is powerful enough to allow light running as well as serious jogging, unfortunately this feature is a mute point if you are any taller than about 5′ 2″. Running on a 50″ belt is anything but enjoyable for people of an average hieght. Cushioning is good, but not at all on par with the quality manufacturers and at $700 there is too many other better machines at the price, that even if the LS780T had a fan it would not make such of a difference.

Nothing Special, Very Average

If you have ever used the LS780T, you have probley noticed that it is truly not a horrible treadmill. It is fairly smooth, runs reasonably quiet, and straight forward and easy to use. Unfortunately, the machine has a 20″ by 50″ belt, lacks any real entertainment or comfort features, and does not stand out from the crowd.

The myview system is meant to give users a unique and simple experience when viewing there performance, but it really nothin much more than the standard readout set that you choose from, nothing truly unique about any biometrics offered. The console as a whole is meant to be approachable and easy to use, and it truly is, a feature many users will appreciate.

Lack luster does not mean poor, it just mean that there is no standout system, design, or feature on this machine that really screams this is the best way I can spend $700. Light jogging is comfortable and easy and feels confortable with adequite cushioning that is still firm. Every part of the machine is user friendly, and usable.

The warranty is also nice to have, but without getting an extended warranty consumers are still likely to have to pay for parts that were made from poor materials.

Average Can Be A Bad Thing

The goal in my quest for the best machines is to find one great machine after another. The truth is, if every machine was great, great would become average. In that event, average would be great, but in the $700 range for treadmills, average is not at all impressive.

The Horizon LS780T is not of a particularly poor make, or truly underpowered, but for its price it does not bring enough to even be considered a good machine among the 20″ x 50″ belt set. Usable, enjoyable, but there are many better machines that don’t cost any more.
