The Horizon GS1040T treadmill is a pretty decent entry level treadmill from horizon. By offering a lifetime frame and motor warranty Horizon is able to earn a level of confidence from new buyers with this machine as is demonstrated by this customer comment,
“One reason I bought it was the lifetime warrenty on the frame and motor, hope I will never need to use it. As for now happy with the product and results. Down Ten pounds using it once a day for 30 min.”
Beyond consumer confidence the GS1040T offers both comfort and entertainment in addition to a decent amount of quality features all for around $900. Horizon may not also instill the greatest sense of value since its low prices often equate with low quality, but with the GS1040T, Horizon has created a machine with enough features to leave customers feeling they recieved a great value.

Value From Horizon
Value is about mroe than a low price. Horizon usually considers itself a value brand because its overall prices are low, but many of their machines fall flat. The GS1040T offers a good sense of by providing a number of features lacking in its other machines at a low price. By offering simple comfort and entertainment features Horizon was able to make this treadmill more than an average sized belt powered by a very average motor.
When you look at actual performance, the GS1040T doesn’t necessarily stick out from the crown. It is fairly stable, but not nearly as stable and smooth as many more expensive, much heavier machines. The 2.25 HP motor feels just a tad slugish at top speed but is quiet and smooth up until about 6 mph, the speed at which I usually like to use a machine with a tad longer track.
Obviously the 55″ belt legnth does preclude the GS1040T from serving as a good running treadmill for average to above average hieght individuals, but walking and jogging a quite enjoyable when utilizing the built in fan and speakers.
A Pretty Good Entry Level Treadmill
Most people are aware that there are $500 dollar treadmill, but most of those are truly subpar, with below 2 hp and belts that are 50″ long. The true entry level of quality treadmills usually starts with a 55″ belt and enough power to power that belt.
The Horizon GS1040T made working out enjoyable and easy. Value is obvious in the pleasing console, ease of use, and low price tag. As with most Horizon treadmill there are places that could use improvement, warranty, belt legnth, hp, but it is overall a fun machine to use.
