Horizon Fitness is first and foremost a price point designed line of fitness equipment. The aim on each of its machines seems to deliver a certain feature below a certain price. Other companies build design their machines their models, then figure out at what price they can make a profit and at what price the market will allow. Horizon’s approach may preclude the feature stacking we see on other lines but it does make for several affordable machines.
With 2.75 HP and a 20″ by 60″ running surface the Horizon 5.3T treadmill allows for running and provides a stable and smooth platform for a basic treadmill workout. One thing consumers may notice however is that the price point for this machine is much higher in the realm of many high quality brands which are loaded with entertainment and comfort features. The 5.3T is seen for its own merits but its competitors must also be consider as it is in a very competitive price range.

Tri-zone cushioning is aimed at delivering both support and comfort where you really need it, the point where your foot meets the belt. Larger belt and motor means this machine is opened up to a larger segment of the excersizing populace, however, programs do not improve grealy from lower priced models and a lot of features such as fans and entertainment are utterly lacking on a machine which falls in a very tough price range to compete in.
Not Loaded, But Still Feature Rich
One of my favorite features on this machine is the tri-zone cushioning which essentially means your force of each foot fall is distributed over a smaller area and can experience a more consistant feel. It is both supportive and impact reducing which means you can expect relieve of joint pain without having to feel like you are running on top jello.
Priced at between $1500 and $2000 dollars, the 5.3 T provides many solid features and an overall smooth and consistant workout. What it does lack however is the entertainment and comfort features which help a machine make a workout more enjoyable.
People disagree, but experience shows us that the average person will exercise longer and more regularly if the machine they are using allows them to have easy access to entertainment and the ability to stay cool during their workout.
And I do want to emphasize this, even though extreme stress increases adreneline levels, being uncomfortable during a workout does not make your workout more effective.
Missing What Customers Look For
The 5.3 T from Horizon fitness can give a solid workout which I personally enjoy. Most people are going to find its lack of comfort features and limited program offering unforgivable at its price. That being said, if you are looking for a solid workout the 5.3 T will give that to you.
The most disappointing thing for me about this machine however is the fact that there is no sense of value for its price that really makes this machine stand out in a price range that often offers machines with built in speakers, nice displays, and some times even a TV.
