Among ultra compact treadmills there is one goal, be small without sacrificing function. Horizon’s Evolve SG treadmill this is done surprisingly well. It is obvious that a treadmill which can fold up and be shoved under a bed like this on will not be as as feature rich or powerful as a a full sized treadmill, but the Evolve SG Compact manages be much more than most expect an ultra compact to be.

Tiny, That’s The Point
The Evolve SG Compact is not the type of machine a serious runner will be happy with and is not a machine that will work well for taller individuals. Having said that, this machine does what it is meant to do surprisingly well. First, and foremost, it is very small. When folded it measures 10″ tall by 59″ long and wieghs 99 pounds. It can be shoved under most beds and many couches, or even shoved into a closet.
With the loss in size, a loss of function is expected, and that is exactly what happens. The 1.5 HP motor is plenty strong enough to handle the 17″ x 47″
belt that can be used at a m aximum speed of 6 mph. The top speed of this machine is disappointing to most, but it is really aimed at providing a walking and jogging treadmill to people who don’t have the room to permenantly commit 25 square feet for an exercise corner.
Positives stated, this machine will not work for most taller people and will work as a runner for none, again the max speed is only 6 mph. At 6 feet tall, walking is ok on this machine but getting up into a job makes the machine feel a little small. The machine also is limited to 2 programs, manual and weight loss, and has no incline feature to speak of. But to its advantage it is atcually quite stable for its size and very quiet.
The major thing I have not mentioned, which is a huge plus for many people interested in this machine, it comes fully assembled. One customer had this to say,
“The treadmill came completely assembled so when it arrived, i just threw the packaging away and used it the same day. When i saw that it would fit under my bed, i was skeptical but lo and behold, IT FITS. How nice since my apartment is so small. No problems with delivery or anything, everything was exactly as i expected. I would recommend it for anyone looking for a very compact, easy to use basic treadmill.”
Suprisingly Well Made Ultra Compact
A $600 ultra compact which helps bring the treadmill into spaces it may not have otherwise gone, the Horizon Evolve SG treadmill surprised me by not being a horrid piece of junk. It is very limited, but is warrantied, well built, and not too hard on the eyes.
I myself would never be happy with this machine as my personal treadmill, but it fits the need of people with limited space who are looking for a walking and jogging treadmill. It is very basic, but it does its job without complaint.
