Epic 600 MX Treadmill Review

Epic, a brand developed by by Icon fitness is almost unique among the many brands Icon makes. Besides the fact that Epic is Icon’s brand and that of another company, the most peculiar thing about Epic is that they are actually known for quality, both among there customers and reviewers alike.

The Epic 600 MX treadmill is a quality treadmill, a little over priced for what it is at MSRP, but when available a discount it is a true value. Discounted prices are common and run just under $1000, putting this machine in a very competitive market.

The 600 MX fits well into its market and is the sibling to a couple treadmills which are known as best buys. The 600MX itself is not a best buy but it does carry many of the traits which have earned its siblings important titles. Overall the 600MX preserves the sense of value which Epic is known for.

The cushioning on the 600MX is not great, but it is there all the same. With an estimated impact reduction of 15% when compared to asphalt. The 600 MX does, however, have a few good features.

With a fan, shock assisted folding and 14 programs, the Epic 600 MX is considered feature rich for its price range.

With a long lasting 2.5 CHP motor, the 600 MX helps to allow the user to enjoy long workouts at a decent pace. The longer workouts will be enhanced by the integrated fan in the center of the console.

With 8 personal trainer programs, the 600MX can help the user to get the most out of a machine which can perform well under a wide range of speeds for even long durations.

The programs give the user the direction they may need to meet fitness goals and get a full workout. The 4 user defined programs pick up where the personal trainer programs leave off by allowing the user to create there own challenges and set their own goals.

A major issue with this machine include the poor cushioning ability of the machine, which fails to make tread mill running as comfortable as it can be. I would have also liked to see this machine be a little more like the 425MX and have a larger motor and a larger belt.

At 55″ by 20″ the belt is as wide as it needs to be but lacks the length to make running on a tread mill comfortable and enjoyable.

Not The 425 MX or View 550, But Still Good

As a value treadmill, the Epic 600 MX treadmill has several good features and is enjoyable.

It lacks some of the features such as high horse power and a large belt which makes its siblings best buys, but is a good machine for home users who are looking for a value priced walking or jogging treadmill with good stability and a decent track record.
