Even though it is cheaper, the Epic 425 MX Treadmill has all the features that you’d usually only find in more expensive treadmills. Just like the 3.0 continuous duty HP motor or the 60’’ long running treadbelt. These features are good enough for walkers or joggers, but it may not be enough if you want it to run, and even jogging depending on your level you may have to choose a better model.

On the other hand, even if the motor is graded as a 3.0 HP, for the price you pay you can’t expect a prime quality motor and other customer have noticed that the motor does fail when increasing the incline. If not properly assembled you may encounter some problems and Icon doesn’t have the best customer service in town.

Epic 425 MX Specifications

  • Motor: 3.0 CHP commercial-grade motor
  • Speed: 0-12 MPH
  • Max Incline 12%
  • Treadbelt Dimensions: 20’’ x 60″
  • Folding: Yes
  • Hand Grip Heart Rate Monitor
  • Warranty: 12 Years on Motor, 1 Year on parts and labor
  • Max User Weight: 350 pounds
  • Programs: 10 Personal Training, 2 Heart Rate and 2 Learn Workouts

Great pack of features

Once again, the Epic 425 MX Treadmill has a good 3-horsepower commercial-grade motor that can deliver speeds from 0 to 12 miles per hour and an incline range of 0 to 12%. Plus the options of 10 personal trainer workouts, 2 heart rate programs and 2 custom learning programs, you will have a wide range of exercises options.

The console has 7 windows, including a 10’’ x 20’’ matrix that has 180 degree viewing angle and displays all the important information for your exercises. The 350 pounds maximum user weight is quite high for the price tag and a limit this high demands stability.

One of the great offers from Epic when you buy this treadmill is the warranty, 12 years on the motor shows how much the company trusts it to be durable and dependable, plus it gives you peace of mind when you buy it, since the motor is the part that does break more often in treadmills due to stress and wear.

So, overall the Epic 425 MX is a solid and stable treadmill with a potent motor, wide and long walking area and a max user weight of 350 pounds. On the downside, comparing to other treadmills within the same price range, are the small amount of programs, no cushioning of the treadbelt and the warranty.

Epic 425 MX at a Glance…

Pros:

  1. Extra long treadbelt
  2. 3.0 CHP commercial-grade motor, with 12 years warranty
  3. 350 pounds max user weight

Cons:

  1. No cushioning on treadbelt
  2. No MP3 or iPod ports

The Epic 425 MX Treadmill is overpriced and looks a bit too big, and all of this at the cost of the materials that were not chosen as high quality. Even so , it is a great choice if you are a beginner or plan to use it for walking, it will meet your needs and does not fall behind other treadmills. For running or power jogging, better to upgrade to another model.
