Commercial Treadmill: What to Look For
The basics that you have to look out for when you’re buying a commercial treadmill are the motor, belt/deck, control system, warranty, frame and the rollers.
If you don’t get a commercial treadmill with a good motor, this will be the most expensive repair bill you can get in the future. The motor should have a continuous duty rating which means that even under steady and continuous use, it will hold up. This also ensures that your treadmill will have a longer life. Get something with more than two years warranty for the motor.
The belt or deck on the commercial treadmill should be low maintenance, meaning it has to work efficiently without having to be lubricated time and again. Just like the motor, two years warranty would be good for this part. Check the operating system of the treadmill as well. It should be easy to use and easy to read. If it has an emergency stop button, all the better.
The frame of the treadmill should be made of a durable and sturdy material. High alloy steel is best and if the frames are welded together, they’re far sturdier. Lastly, the rollers. A large roller allows the belt to turn with less tension. Less tension also means less heat and the longer life of your treadmill.
