The Bowflex Series 7 is as solid as a rock, in a treadmill that is a good thing but it also means it as heavy as one too. Sturdy and smooth in funtion it delivers what many people are looking for in a $1400 treadmill but can not find anywhere else. A customer favorite and a good seller, the series 7 has earned the respect of buyers for its price range and long list of features as well a good looking specs.
Unfortunately the Series 7 is plagued by many quality and durability issues which are not noted on paper or quoted by sales people. The majority of customer reviews come from customers who just purchased the machined and have not had the chance for things to start going wrong. The series 7, despite durability worries, offers a wide range of features which delite most people looking for a high performance treadmill.

With a 3 speed cooling fan, above average cushioning and a high horse power motor the Series 7 looks to be a great value priced machine. What the paper can’t always tell you, and many customers don’t notice is that the motor is louder than it reall should be. I can’t comment on the true horse power rating, but the 3.0 horsepower on this machine is achieved at a high RPM. The motor running at a high RPM means it will run hotter, wear out quicker and be noiser than a motor running at a lower speed.
Many Features And Many Faults
If you talk to your nearest repair house you will find out they know a lot about this machine. Repairs are quite common, due to the relatively short warranty they can also be costly. This issue is one that really brings down a machine that otherwise might be great. I would like to note that if you experience no problem with your machines than you will most likely love the machine and have no major complaints.
On the positive side, the 15 programs seem to make the machine feel as though you are getting a lot for your money. There is also the fact that this is perhaps the sturdiest and most smooth treadmill below $1500. It also feels to have a lot of power and allows running among even its taller users on its 60″ long running surface. The power, unfortunately, is a result of a motor which is turning at a high speed which plays into reliability issues.
Customers love this machine, they really do. Let me give you an example:
“I purchased the Bowflex Series 7 Treadmill nine months ago and have used it almost daily. It has held up very well and I have trained for a half marathon, using it as my main source of running since my schedule does not allow me to get outside as much as I would like. I have put on over 800 miles and its had no problems at all. My one disapointment was with the fan. It is not as strong as I would like. This treadmill is also difficult to move around as its very heavy. However, this is a great treadmill, well built and made to last. It was well worth every penny!”

From my view a lot of the customer hype is true after a few months with BIG note. Few customers pick up on the console faults, maybe they have no comparison. To me the console is an eye sore, it also makes a poor interface and makes using the machine cumbersome and ungainly. It is on of the faults of the machine noticable immediately but often overlooked.
Recommended By Some, Not By Me
I admit that it is possible to find fault with any piece of fitness equipment if you look for it. But when you can not expect a machine to last 2 years before you need to put pay labor then there is a problem. It is not always the case, but often the warranty matches the durability of the machine.
If you never run into machine breakdowns, however, you will most likely love this machine. It functions very well for $1400, but cant be counted on to last 5 years without major repair.
